Rainbow Six Vegas 2 Review (XBOX 360)
The most anticipated sequel of the year on the 360 has arrived, Vegas 2, following on from 2006's stunning Unreal3 powered multi-player powerhouse is here and it's a stunner.
The basic engine remains the same so much so that many people are calling this Vegas 1.1, the only issue I have with that is that is exactly what I wanted! A refined version of the original with new maps and modes, some subtle tweaks and nothing else changed.
The menu's are improved with a more coherent feel between the online and offline modes of which single player story is intact and playing through it fleshes out some of the backstory to the original title. CoOp is also still there through story mode with an improvement that any one can join game in progress a-la Gears, there is however a 2 player limitation on CoOp now unfortunately, as I haven't tried it yet I cant say if this helps the gameplay or hurts it. Terrorist hunt still available in both single and multiplayer configurations along with XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
The new ranking system seems a lot better than the old one. Elite still requires a lot of XP to achieve it (400K) but is more easily reached than in the first game (700K), you also get A.C.E.S ranks for different types of actions which count toward different ranks which get you new weapons or XP boosts.
XBOX Live Vision camera support is still included for PEC character creation, however now you can use the character in both single and multiplayer modes earning XP and A.C.E.S across all game modes. The camera works better than it did in the first game and the character faces definitely have more detail to them.
